Regina Lizbeth Acosta Fonseca
Dear delegates!
Welcome to the Special Committee Against Apartheid of the United Nations General Assembly. My name is Regina Lizbeth Acosta Fonseca, and I am your President. It is a great honor and a pleasure to lead this committee for the 16th edition of the Alexander Bain Irapuato United Nations Model.
I would also like to introduce the rest of the Chair who is working with me. Macarena Robles Zubizarreta is your Moderator, and she will guide you through all the debate sessions. Mario Fregoso Ramos is your Conference Officer.
In this committee, we will focus on a very important historical topic: Government Violence in the Bantustans. During the sessions, we will discuss how the South African government used these territories to take away the rights and citizenship of millions of people through force, forced moves, and strict control.
Because this is a historical committee, as your President, I expect a high level of diplomacy from all of you. Remember that the goal in the United Nations is not to win an argument, but to work together and find new, creative solutions that can help people in real life.
If you have any questions or doubts during the conference, please do not hesitate to talk to me, the Moderator, the Conference Officer, or the Secretariat. We are here to help you.
We look forward to seeing your amazing participation. See you soon and good luck!
Sincerely,
Regina Lizbeth Acosta Fonseca
President of the United Nations General Assembly's Special Committee Against Apartheid
